Creating luxury experiences, incredible service and beautiful artwork.
HI! My name is Lori, but my friends have called me MOON since I can remember.
I hope you'll stop by for a visit. Or better yet, schedule that portrait you've been wanting. Time is unforgiving. Don't let it catch you by surprise! Luna Studios is a full-service studio offering luxury portrait experiences, custom framing, old photo restorations and in 2025 will be celebrating 10 years in the current location!
Studios is located in Historic District #2 of the beautifully refurbished and updated downtown Fremont, Ohio. Fremont was named as Ohio's Best Hometown in 2019 and us locals are pretty proud of that honor! Fremont boasts some beautiful victorian homes, a small-town friendly neighborhood vibe and is rich in history and home to the 19th President of the United States, Rutherford B. Hayes. President Hayes brought the original wrought iron fencing from the White House to our little town and it surrounds an incredible 25 acre wooded estate called Spiegel Grove and is complete with a two story presidential library, museum which was the first of its kind to open to the public. Hayes's thirty-one room mansion, burial site and tomb are beautifully maintained in the park filled with walking trails and an annual Civil War encampment every October. Not only is Fremont full of history, it is also home to some amazing athletes who gained national fame in the NFL. Here are some names you may recognize from both St Joseph Central Catholic and Fremont Ross High School: Bob Brudzinski, Rob Lytle, Shawn McCarthy and Charles Woodson. I am going to add my dear ole' Dad, Jim Mooney to this list because he held the State Wrestling Title for his weight class in 1960 so of course I am pretty proud of that.
The building that my studio calls home is also rich in history and was originally the Grob Camera Shop and was built in 1927. The Grob Family started a photography studio on the west side of town in 1875 and it was moved by horse-drawn carriage, in its entirety, to the east side right next door to where my building sits. In my current building, they sold cameras and equipment, offered picture framing and offered film development and printing. I was able to meet Ray Grob Jr. in 2015 when he stopped over to see who purchased "his" building. He told me he was the only living person that knew anything about the building and wanted to have a last peek. I asked if they hid money in the walls for me and he seemed to have a chuckle! He was very pleased the building had come "full circle" and was again a place of portrait memories. Mr Grob Jr had a very successful business there but sold it in 1974 to pursue other ventures including to host a radio program called "Outdoors with Ray Grob." The current building then changed hands a few times and landed in my own after realizing I missed owning my own space. I have worked for several other photography studios but love the satisfaction of building something out of an empty space and working for myself while raising 5 children and being a busy Army-Wife. Now that Matt has retired after 24 years, we are empty-nesters determining what we want our life to look like now, and planning travel and some home remodeling projects.
